Bay Lodge is located on the seafront opposite the Redoubt Military Fortress, and just across from the beach. The pier is half a mile away, and other attractions like the theatres, Band Stand, the Wish Tower and the main shops are all within a mile. There is a Dotto Train which runs all along the seafront in summer, and there is good local bus service with pickups along the seafront and Terminus Road. Sovereign Harbour, with its shops and restaurants, is 5-10 mins by car.

Beachy Head, the South Downs and Seven Sisters Country Park are all easily accessible from Eastbourne. The start of the South Downs lies at the end of the promenade at Holywell Bay and is ideal for walking. Beachy Head has breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding countryside. Have a look at the Belle Toute Lighthouse and coast guard cottages at Birling Gap. For a level walk and some bird watching visit Cuckmere Haven followed by lunch at the Cuckmere Pub.
